Ten days after the Lakhimpur Kheri, the violence started. Uttar Pradesh Law Minister Brajesh Pathak visited relatives of BJP employees who were victims of the assault but didn’t attend the funeral of relatives of farmers who died during the incident. Four of them died on October 3.
Pathak has been named the first principal BJP Minister to meet the family members of its Members Shubham Mishra and Hari Om Mishra. They were suspected of being killed by a mob during the incident at Lakhimpur, in which eight people were killed. In addition, a journalist was also murdered.
But, he could not visit the families of another BJP employee -Shyam S. Nishad Shyam Sundar Nishad and the reporter Raman Kashyap. According to Indian Express, he has stated that when the situation is settled, the issue will be resolved, and he’ll visit the two families too.
Many politicians have tried to visit the district since the incident that occurred on October 3. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has announced recently that she would call the families of deceased BJP employees. But, police officials have informed them that families weren’t ready to meet with her.
Meanwhile, Congress UP chief Ajay Lallu has said that the Yogi Adityanath government was using devious strategies by sending ministers to Lakhimpur after a period of the past 10 days. “The state government is offering protection for criminals. The minister was in Lakhimpur within 10 days of the incident. It’s known there is a state-wide government has no plans to provide justice to the victim. The state government is currently working on strategies to deflect attention,” said Lallu.
